Choir 2022

Home / Choir 2022

August 25th to September 3rd
vielklang Chor

Under the leadership of Nicol Matt and his assistants Juliane Mechler and Douglas Tang, the 2022 vielklang Academy will sponsor its sixth choral project.
The choir is open for singers, for students of singing and of school or church musicians, as well as for directors and experienced choral singers.
The chorus will rehearse Heinrich Schütz’s famous “Psalms of David.” The work will then be performed on Sept. 3, accompanied by the resident vielklang orchestra.

After his return from Italy in 1613, Heinrich Schütz received his letter of appointment as court kapellmeister in February 1615, and in 1619 he was appointed as court kapellmeister at the court of Johann Georg I of Saxony.
With this collection of 26 motets the Dresden court kapellmeister initiated a new era in German church music. The Venetian practice of using multiple choruses in connection with an intimate bonding of word and music had previously never been so artfully realized north of the Alps.
On his wedding day, June 1, 1619, Schütz published his Op. 2, the “Psalms of David.” The publication contains 26 pieces that he had composed following his return from Italy. The “Psalms of David” are a key work in the blending of German and Italian musical traditions.

We will sing in historical tuning (465 Hz). Details will be sent with the registration confirmation. Solo parts for can be taken by participants.

about vielklang

Vielklang was founded in 2011 by FT and AF.  They conceived the plan of arranging and organizing a festival in Tübingen of young people and for young people on stage and in the audience.  Almost every year new ideas have been added and implemented.  In 2013 we instituted the first master classes; in 2014 the chorus; in 2015 the sing!@Tübingen-Projekt.

In 2013 vielklang was expanded by the founding of vielklang e.V., and Prof. Dr. Herta Däubler-Gmelin joined as patron.

We look forward eagerly to vielklang 2022 and to the upcoming concerts and events.
