Genevieve Knoebel

Violin

Genevieve Knoebel is a young American composer of melodious, emotionally compelling chamber music that combines traditional classical music with contemporary technological innovation. Using a series of pedals such as “Whammy”, “Delay” and “Looper”, she creates complex soundscapes that reflect both the complexity and beauty of her work.
A graduate of the University of Illinois in viola and music education, Genevieve continues to play a leading role in that institution’s electric string program, mentoring and nurturing the next generation of performers and creators in this evolving medium.
Genevieve Knoebel’s teachers include Rudolf Haken (professor of viola and electric strings at the University of Illinois), Li Kuo Chang (assistant principal violist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and professor of viola at Indiana University) and Michael Strauss (principal violist of the Indianapolis Symphony).
