Master concertJeroen Suys
Viola
Born into a family of Belgian musicians in Paris, Jeroen Suys began playing the violin at the age of six.
After studying at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Music in Paris in the class of Ami Flammer and then with Philippe Graffin, he turned to the viola, taught by Gérard Caussé, Laurent Verney and Pierre Lenert. As leader of the Suys Quartet, he has been invited to several chamber music festivals in Europe and Japan.
Since 2023, Jeroen has been working as a violist at the Opera National de Paris where he plays lyrical repertoire under the most famous conductors (Gustavo Dudamel, Seymon Bychkov…). His discography includes all of Beethoven’s string trios and Bach’s trio sonatas in transcription for string trio.
Jeroen plays a viola by Thomas Meuwissen (2003).
