    Eliot Quartet

Founded in 2014, the Eliot Quartet is one of the most interesting and promising string quartets of the new generation. The international ensemble – whose members come from Russia, Canada and Germany – has won prizes at numerous competitions. So it received the 2nd prize at the Salzburg Mozart Competition, the He won 2nd prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition and the prize of the German Music Competition with three special prizes as well as 1st prize with special prize for the best interpretation of a work by Szymanowski at the Karol Szymanowski Competition.

The Eliot Quartet is an integral part of concert life in its home city of Frankfurt am Main, where it was the first quartet “in residence” in 2019 to organize its own concert series at the renowned Holzhausenschlösschen in Frankfurt. The quartet has performed at the Bachfest Leipzig, the Kasseler Musiktage, the Styriarte Graz, the Mozartfest Würzburg, the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele and the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg. In 2024/25, the Eliot Quartet will perform the Shostakovich cycle “DSCH & beyond” at the Holzhausenschlösschen of the Frankfurt Bürgerstiftung.

The Eliot Quartet received its artistic training at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main with Hubert Buchberger and Tim Vogler and at the Escuela Superior de Musica Madrid in the master class of Günter Pichler. The ensemble receives further decisive impulses in its work with Alfred Brendel and the Belcea Quartet.

The Eliot Quartet is named after the American writer T. S. Eliot, who was inspired by the innovative, late string quartets of Ludwig van Beethoven to compose his last great poetic work, Four Quartets. Several recordings by the Eliot Quartet have been released on the Genuin label.
