Violin
Finnish violinist Petteri Iivonen was praised by Il Gazzettino as an artist with “impeccable technique and expressive interpretation” and praised for his “control and emotional sensitivity” as well as “colorful details and thoughtful phrasing” (Helsingin Sanomat).
A silver medalist and special prize winner of the 10th International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition, Iivonen is currently concertmaster (premier violon solo) of the Opéra National de Paris.
Highlights of his solo career include performances with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, to name but a few. He has also worked as a soloist with all of Finland’s major orchestras.
As a dedicated chamber musician, Iivonen regularly collaborates with world-renowned artists such as Matti Salminen, Nobuko Imai, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Michel Lethiec, Lilli Paasikivi, Clive Greensmith, Frans Helmerson, Michaela Martin, Arto Noras, as well as the Emerson, Michelangelo and Tokyo String Quartets.
Thanks to the generosity of the Karolina Blaberg Foundation, Mr. Iivonen plays a G. B. Guadagnini (1746)
