Signum Quartet

Streichquartett

The Signum Quartet is distinguished by its highest intensity, finest differentiations, and uncompromising expressiveness, intimacy, and vitality. The cohesive dramaturgy in program design is implemented with uncompromising perfection and a natural ease of interpretation. (“enormously clever and knowledgeable program design” — Rondo Magazine)

As a warmly welcomed guest at venues including the Paris Philharmonie, London’s Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Vienna Konzerthaus, Cologne Philharmonie, Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, and the BBC Proms, the Signum Quartet regularly performs with partners such as Nils Mönkemeyer, Dominique Horwitz, Jörg Widmann, Daniel Ottensamer, Nicolas Altstaedt, and Elisabeth Leonskaja. The quartet is set to make its debut at Carnegie Hall in 2023.

The discography of the Signum Quartet showcases its stylistic range: In addition to the giants of quartet literature, they have also recorded works by Wolfgang Rihm, Thomas Adès, Jörg Widmann, and Kevin Volans. Their recording for ECM of Erkki-Sven Tüür’s 2nd String Quartet, “Lost Prayers,” won the Classical Album of the Year award at the Estonian Music Awards in 2021.
