Thibault Vieux is a graduate of the Paris National Conservatory, where he studied violin. He later continued his training with Eduard Schmieder – himself a student of David Oistrakh – at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas. There he earned an Artist Diploma in 1992 and a Master of Music in 1994.

He has won prizes at several prestigious international competitions, including the Yehudi Menuhin Competition (Paris), the International Competition in Geneva and the Murcia Competition in Spain. He was also awarded the Fondation de la Vocation Prize and received the Academy’s Maurice Ravel Prize in 1997. Yehudi Menuhin once described him as “an excellent violinist with an exquisite taste in music”.

Thibault Vieux has participated in numerous notable projects, including the complete recording of Poulenc’s chamber music with pianist Alexandre Tharaud for the Naxos label. He has performed as a soloist with major ensembles such as the Orchestre de Picardie, the Orchestre des Pays de la Loire and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra from Venezuela. He is also a regular guest with orchestras such as the Paris Chamber Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France, the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra and the Lyon Opera Orchestra.

In addition to his work in the classical repertoire, Vieux explored the baroque violin under the direction of Patrick Bismuth at the Regional Conservatory of Versailles (CRR) between 2005 and 2008, while continuing his career as a musician and teacher.

He has been a member of the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Paris since 1998, where he was appointed deputy concertmaster in 2007.

A dedicated teacher, Thibault Vieux regularly gives master classes for the El Sistema program in Venezuela. He currently teaches at the Paris Regional Conservatory (CRR) and is an assistant professor at the Paris National Conservatory (CNSM).
