Webern, Schubert, Shostakovich
String Quartet op. 28
String Quartet in A minor D. 804 "Rosamunde"
String Quartet No. 5 in B flat major, op. 92
In this program, the Eliot Quartet will present different perspectives on the theme of “utopia”. From Anton Webern’s last complete chamber music work, which clearly depicts the utopia of the twelve-tone technique, to Shostakovich’s symphonic Fifth String Quartet, which touches on the theme of the Soviet utopia (or anti-utopia). The program is rounded off by Schubert’s string quartet “Rosamunde”: a work that transports us to a better, utopian world.
